Biophilic design seeks our connection with nature. We design with elements that evoke nature, generating an unconscious feeling of well-being.
It follows three basic principles:
– It introduces elements of nature:
Both visually and non-visually. This aspect appeals to the senses of the people that are in the space. From the smells, the sound, air quality, acoustic comfort to the thermal sensation with respect to that of the natural environment. A good example of this at visual level can be the carpets that imitate natural surfaces such as grass or stone.
– It uses elements equivalent to those of nature:
In construction, biophilic design is similar to natural shapes, materials and colours. The use of woods, the reduction of corners and abrupt cuts in space toward more rounded shapes is one of the characteristics that aims to play with the environment while incorporating plants and other elements.
– It creates natural spaces:
Integrating into the design vegetable and natural elements naturales. Spaces where people want to go to work. Zones that increase creativity, open spaces, with views of nature, both indoors and outdoors. Natural and artificial light mix, noise-free zones for reflecting and relaxing.
This innovative type of design is something that that many companies renounce due to ignorance or economic reasons, but precisely the positive return of these spaces is one of the advantages to committing to it.
Biophilic design increases productivity up to 8%, well-being by 13% and reduces employee absenteeism in offices. In the case of retail spaces, it increases clients’ willingness to pay more up to 12% thanks to the experience generated by a biophilic space. This type of design is another element pertaining to the circular economy on which Grupo Construcía bases its activity. Our offices are the living example of our work philosophy
